I. CALL TO ORDER – Welcome to Members –Introduction of Executive Officers -Attendance Sheet

B. Secretaries day – April 25, 2012
Please give a shout out of thank you to our secretary staff for all their hard work. That would include; Janice, Kathy, Amanda and Josh. The PTO will ensure they have a surprise.
C. Flower Day – April 27, 2012 – each child brings a flower – looking for someone who can donate flats of flowers?????? Have Olathe South students coming out in the evenings starting April 25th to prep area we will be planting flowers. All other volunteers are welcome to come as well to help in the evenings starting the 25th. We have a number for a gentleman that donated topsoil for us last year – will be contacting him again. Volunteers are also welcome to come on the 27th of April to help their student or all plant flowers. Classes will go in order of grade and will be accompanied by their buddy class. PTO will donate $100.00 for flowers to be planted.
D. YMCA – having bake sale to raise monies to sponcer students to attend before & after school as well as summer programs. Bake Sale will be before and school and after school April 2 -6
Goal is $330.00
V. COMMITTEE REPORTS –
A. RESTAURANT NIGHTS – Heather Smith $ 588.69 YTD
Papa Murphy’s – (Total Aug. – Feb. = $ 335.23)(Feb. = $ 55.00) = $ 390.23
B. BOX TOPS/TYSON LABELS – Mary Whitt
$$ raised so far & upcoming checks not received, where to turn in box tops/labels
All labels can be turned in anytime to office or teacher. This school year totals are
Box Tops = $930.50 Campbells points = 19,000 Best Choice = have 680, need min of 1,000 to send in. Hyvee receipts = $20.00
Mrs. Hercules set up account for coke rewards so make sure to keep your coke caps.
Target offers a visa card as well as a debit card that you can use just at Target and it will come straight out of your debit account. If you do this you receive a 5% discount on each purchase plus if you go to Target.com and make Countryside your school of choice then The school will receive 2% of every purchase you make. That can add up fast!!!

D. PTO BUCKS – Stephanie Murphy
Hand out $ 1 buck for attending meeting – no PTO bucks to this meeting will announce next month, also working on handing out PTO bucks to Fun Fair volunteers.
E. FUN FAIR – pick up final raffle items

F. SPIRIT WEAR 2012-2013 – Heather Smith & Kim Wahaus
4th Grade art contest starts – Monday, April 9, 2012 thru April 30, 2012 – info coming home on flier. Winning art will be cover of next year’s yearbook, the directory as well as
spirit wear T-shirt.
G. TEACH. APPREC. WEEK – Rachel White & Scott Venable
May 7th – 11th We are planning to do something special for the teachers and support staff everyday as a way of showing them how much we appreciate them. If you would be available to help out in anyway on these dates please contact

VI. OLD BUSINESS –
A. MISC. ITEMS:
a. Signs for drive – Denied by district – suggestions for signage (portable)
Chris Noel is working with Mrs. Hercules for light post top flags as a 5th grade gift bought one each year.
b. Directories – extras available $ 3 each after meeting or give money to office labeled Directories with kids name, grade and teacher and we can send home with student
Next year looking at getting business’s from Countryside families to advertise in the directories. Goal to raise enough from advertising that each student will get a directory free. Any ideas regarding this please contact the PTO.
VII. NEW BUSINESS
A. General suggestions/comments/ideas about PTO?????
B. Summer Movie Tickets - Tix are being printed now – flyers will come home with students this week – make check payable to Countryside PTO – and return form with payment to your child’s teacher – we will send tix home once available to us
C. Booster Club Meeting with District – FYI for next year’s major saver sales – 55% of sales comes directly back to Countryside and the other 45% goes to the Olathe Foundation – where we get our grants from.
D. Note cards from last meeting:
- Spirit Wear – have a t-shirt for WAT for student who raises the most money. Can also be
sold to parents/siblings. Possibly given to volunteers.
We have done this in the past but was not cost effective. We discussed giving away
spirit wear T-shirt.
- Massage Chair – try for 2 people
Contacting companies to see if donations would be possible
- Give people the option to advertise and pass out business cards for volunteering their time
Trying for advertising for next year in the directories.
E. Rock Slip shop – PTO donate $$$ and take vote to put into next years budget
We voted and approved PTO to put $500.00 in next year’s budget for PBIS Store.
VIII. CALENDAR & UPCOMING EVENTS

B. April 27, 2012 – Flower/Arbor Day
C. May 7 – 11, 2012 – Teacher Appreciation Week
D. May 8, 2012 – Last PTO Meeting @ 7:00 p.m. in library
IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Drawing for Spirit Wear – Water Bottle & Magnet
Next month we will vote for PTO secretary position as well as Vice President for next school year
