Party Planning…

Begin your party planning by chatting with the classroom teacher about his/her preferences. You may discover the teacher prefers to have the students plan some parts of the party, or the teacher may have ideas on time frames/rotations that work best for that particular age and grade level. From here you’ll know how to coordinate your other parent helpers and how many activities you’ll need.

You might find it helpful to break the kids into small groups and rotate them to three or four stations. You may consider a snack/food creation station, a craft station, and one or more game stations. Whole group bingo or whole group story time can be great as wrap-up activities. Older children may enjoy music and chat time.

Younger children may prefer such things as pin the tail/nose on the seasonal character, bingo, and decorating cookies. Older children may prefer Thumbs Up 7 Up, Charades, Win-Lose-or Draw, Name that Tune, and more adult-like food such pizza rolls or brownies.

Party Food…

Please also consider healthy snack options as you plan your party. Specifically ask parents to avoid red, grape, or other dark-staining drinks to preserve the beauty of our classrooms and clothing.

Reimbursement

There is a small stipend to help reimburse room parents for their costs (often around $10 and can be picked up in the office). This reimbursement money is available the week of the party.  Room parents may want to consider asking other parents for specific craft supply, food, or paper product donations via a note send home through the teacher. Check with the teacher for who has already signed up to help.
